New tranny installed
Over the past week I put an EX tranny into my HX. Just gonna drop off some info for anyone looking to do this.
First, a tranny jack is well worth it. I pulled about 18 muscles getting it to line up and slide on. Also this was the second time we've used my friend to remove a tranny by dropping it onto stomach, so he'd probably agree on getting a tranny jack for next time as well.
Second a 8 ton gear puller is a good idea for getting the axles out of the hub, and when your done, getting them back into the tranny. Be sure to pull against the hub and not the brake rotor (We broke the screws that hold the rotor on) when pushing the axles through the hub. To get the axles back into the tranny, we put the axle through the hub and as far as we could into the tranny, then we just put the hub back into the ball joint, and used the gear puller to push the axle into the tranny.. it just slid right in.
Lastly, my shift light is confused out of its mind. Keeps telling me to go to 6th gear, so I dunno what the deal with that is.
Anyway, the accel is much better with this tranny. Second gear reds at 55 mph instead of 70 like in my old hx tranny. Plus my old HX tranny had a bad input shaft bearing, so the new tranny is much quieter too. So ya, thats the knowledge I gain over the past week if anyone wants it.

Re: New tranny installed (jolt-tsp)
I always wondered what would happen with the shift light. I also thought about changing it, to light at a different rpm, don't know if it is possible.

Re: New tranny installed (piscorpio)
I'm sure there's a way to change it. I just put a peice of black tape over mine. Learned that when Homer fixed his check engine light in the Simpsons

Is this auto or manual tranny? Cause im not sure about auto, but i knwo for a fact using a ball joint popper (tunign fork looking thing) is just about the quickest way to pop an axel. Good job on the tranny swap though, wait till u do a b-series w/ heavy *** lsd without a jack, your friend who lent his stomach will really be crying.

Re: New tranny installed (Nextekhatch)
It's a manual.. I couldn't get the ball joint tool in the groove between the axel and the hub =\ Thanks for the props on the swap, it was my first attempt at doing this for myself.
