New Swap: Should I Replace Headgasket?
I'll be swapping in a JDM D15B VTEC on Saturday, should I replace the HG? If so, how necessary is it to get the head milled? And how much does it typically cost to have the head milled? TIA.

Its not bad to replace a headgasket good preventive maintance but if its straight from japan they have fairly low miles on them were you really dont need to replace them unless it has a issue with it. I say just run it. We threw in a jdm d15b vtec motor in my dads 4th gen hatch and its very healthy looking motor and runs great

Re: New Swap: Should I Replace Headgasket? (illusive)
That's what I figured, just thought that I'd ask. I didn't do it for the swap I did in my EF a while back, but I did that one in a hurry since I was broke at the time.

I was just thinking about it b/c I have a Y8 HG still in the package, and I figured that it could possibly save me trouble later. I guess by the same token, it could potentially casue trouble later as well....

Yeah but you never know. Personally, I would do it if the engine was out. Might as well do it when it is a hell of alot easier.....just my $.02. Replacing a headgasket in the car isnt extremely difficult but a PITA. If you already have the gasket and the engine was oput, why not take an hour or so and change it...? It is not that much of a waste of time...no more than posting this question and waiting fro answers could have been
