Default New Springs =P

Thinking of getting new springs for my 03 civic ex coupe. I was talking to a friend after looking at spring sets online and he told me that it will F*ck up my shocks after a while and may cause the ride to become undesireable. I dont know what to do please give me some advice.

It will destroy your shocks. I have a 95 ex and i HAD coilover sleeves for about a year. But they killed my shocks. So i would suggest doin' what i just recently did, buy a spring/strut package. Its way worth the money. Up here in canada i spent $800 on a Tokico spring/strut package, i am sure in the US you could find them even cheaper. Don't cheap out and just buy springs on stock struts.

Sure you can buy aftermarket shocks. But by the time you spend the money on a set of one brand springs and another brand shocks you could have easily bought a kit. When you are buying a kit you are getting a spring/strut combination. Which means that the spring was designed to work WELL with the strut. As opposed to hoping that the spring that you bought works well with the strut you bought. Plus when you buy a kit the money you saved vs buying spring/strut separately you will have enough for some sway bars. Take it from me...this is what i did. Don't waste your money on just springs or just a coilover sleeve. You will regret it in a year when you have to replace your struts.

if your going to buy a spring/strut full coilover deal don't waste your money on some low level teins or anything like that. I wouldn't waste your money on a full coilover setup anyways unless you are autocrossing or something. You could spend the same amount of money and get some custom rate ground control coilovers with koni yellow shocks which would work way better than tein ss's or tein basics. What are you planning to do with your suspension? Are you going to race your car like in autocross racing or are you just looking for a drop? If your just looking for a drop get some decent springs and a fairly cheap set of aftermarket shocks.
