Awhile back I got a new rack and pinion put in my car then a week later my power steering pummp started making whining noises. THe pitch changed noises whenever i turn the wheel. When it is cold it whirrs al the way through the gears then after it warms up abit it goes away when I am driving and I hear it at low rpms and low speed while turning or standing still.

Took it back to the people who replaced my rack and pinion and they put a new pump on it for me. But the same whirring and chattering noise is still there. The mechanic said a new pump would make that noise and said it would take 2 weeks for it to go away. I was like hmm,(they didnt charge me a penny for the pump). The new pump is black in color and a little bit of paint is coming off at the top(when they gave it back to me it was like that).

I was like they prolly spray painted it to make it look new. Anyways does anyone have anythoughts or suggestions. i heard something about a noise dampner in the high pressure line??? Please help me people this noise is so embarrasing when starting up my car to leave school.

I dont know maybe there is air in the line, not sure if there is a process to bleed the system though.

yes you can bleed the system and I have done that

bump please help me!! Could it be the high pressure line? There is a vibration from it when I put my hand around it? someone helllp!
