new motor swap- i got spark and fuel but IT WONT START!
Just did my first motor swap but I cant get it to start. It throws engine codes 8 and 21.
It WAS LS-V. Now just LS. No vtec. I havent changed the computer but that shoudnt stop it from running right? Any Ideas?

seeing is how you changed the head for the nonvtec head, you must have messed up the timing. Set everything to tdc, check your firing order, and try again

I ended up replacing the longblock not just the head. could the timing still be off somehow?

What are codes 8 and 21? Is it cranking or clicking or what? Jesus, kid: give us some information if you want any help

It cranks and cranks. just wont start. code 8 is tdc-top dead center sensor or circuit and code 21 is vtec solenoid.

OBD of engine? TDC sensor will keep it from starting as the engine doesn't know what to do with itself.
