new motor, big problems
just got my new motor running in my car. its a b16 with a gsr head. well it ran fine for about 2 seconds and then all the oil came out of the head gasket. im going to pull the head off tomorrow. the motor was completely rebuilt so everything is all new oem internals. any ideas as to what this could be? the only thing i can think of is that i should have used a b16 head gasket instead of a gsr? but im not sure any input would be much appreciated.

I thought that right away too
you dont want to use any sealants... copper spray MAYBE but thats not required at all

when i re attached my D16 head its now leaking so i am going 2 have 2 go back and put sealer on it, and if u don't torque it in order it will leak get the diagram it helps alot because the bolts let loose after awhile of torquing the others

no, it probably means that the gasket is upside down...
Yes high temp sealant will keep things "dry" but all that is, is a bandaid that covers the problem, as it gets worse and worse...
Its just a dumb idea.
Go stab yourself, with a 4" long kitchen knife and then wrap the wound with gauze. Sure, you cant see the blood...but you still have serious problem

the head was vlave jobbed and resurfaced before i put it on so it defintaly not warped. also there is no way to put the head gasket on upside down. i have been rebuilding motors at my work for 3 years and i know i tourqued it down right. i have never seen this before. and if the head gaskets are the same then i have no clue what caused this. im going to pull the head off right now and then ill get back to you guys.

Before u take anything apart make sure all of your seals and gaskets are mating in the correct manor. Cam seals are the most forgotten seal when a motor has been overhauled. Check the valve cover gasket they like to twist during installation.
