Default new to imports

I recently aquired a 93 civic dx that someone had changed the engine to a d15z1. The engine idles erratically and the vtech isn't even wired up. I need some kind of idea of where to go to fix these problems and make the car run right. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

well, if you want to "go" somewhere to get it fixed, then the honda dealer can fix it I am sure. If you check out the stickies at the top of the forum, then you will find a DIY about wiring vtec. And are you sure vtec is not wired? Some civics were prewired for vtec, even if they were not equipped with it. I think it was the 92s and maybe the 93s, but anyway. Check out the stickies and FAQ

as for wiring it up, it's quite simple, put imo, go to a salvage yard and find a donor harness, vtec or not, so you have the wires to fit into the pins(on your civic wire harness).

the reason I don't think it is wired is because the plug located under the vtec selonoid has nothing plugged into it I believe this is the pressure switch. And there is also a loose wire comomg from the vtech selonoid itself. I have a wiring diagram and have located the pin for the vtec on the ecu but there are no wires in the wiring harness pulg that go to the pin.
