New to HT (and hondas in general)
Figured i'd say hi.
Names David.
If it isnt obvious from the name, im more into vw's than hondas.
But due to current situations im driving a 93 civic coupe, needs quite a bit of bodywork. Its purple, with a carbon fiber hood (was on it when i purchased it). Rust on rear and front passenger quarter panel.
Soon to put new catback exhaust, CAI, HID 10000k conversions, new hood latch/cable as soon as they call come in the mail.
Hoping to learn a little about bodywork, so i can get to cleanin up this coupe.
And im from dayton ohio, just to let everybody know.
I used to drive a MK4 jetta, hoping to get back in a vw before too long, although i cant say anything bad bout this little civic.

<--- Owns an R32 and an 94 Hatch. WHAT UP! Jk. LOL. The new layout on "that VW" site sucks, so I have been posting here a lot lately.
Anyways, welcome to the Honda world. 10,000k might be a little too blue. :p
Make sure you run projectors either way though.

Re: New to HT (and hondas in general)
Well i dont have much of an option, the cheap bondo option is kind of the only option.
Glad to see not every honda guy hates vdubs.
And pics are forthcoming, but im waiting til i get a couple things done, then im gonna post before+after pics.
Is there a way to tell what engine is in my coupe from the vin?
Also,im a fan of cuda purple but not the purple on my car.
Was purple when i bought it, im going to black it out as i had planned to do with my jetta

Re: New to HT (and hondas in general)
yea but thats way too much work.
look where the engine and tranny meet there should be a little flat plate with something like b,d,h and a number after it. thats what engine it is. IE b16a,b18C,b18C5,h22a,D15b7 so on.

Re: New to HT (and hondas in general)
just look at the valvecover
you have a 8993. only two engines were available form the factory
sparkplugs in the back? its a d15b7
sparkplugs in the front at exhaust? its a d16z6
if its not the original engine, like above says, look at front of motor. look to left of exhaust manifold/header.
should say <LETTER><NUMBER><NUMBER><LETTER><NUMBER>
-----------------D------------1--------------6----------Z-----------6
hondas are easy yo!

Not only post pics of your new Civic, let's see pics of the old Jetta. I'm a Honda guy but I love VWs... Good luck cleaning up the new coupe!

Also, anybody with insight on bodywork/bondo and such please pm me if you can give me some pointers.
This is a first time endeavor for me,and im sure it isnt going to come out perfect, but some knowledge couldnt hurt.

Re: New to HT (and hondas in general)
Anybody know anything bout fixing the hoodlatch/release cable?
When i bought the car, the cable wouldnt open the hood when you pull it,unless you moved the cable around a little bit, then it would pop and i would have to reset the mechanism on the passenger side of the latch,to get it to close again.
Now the hood wont pop at all,and my hoodlatch and cable just came in the mail and i have no way of working on it because i cant get the hood open.
any ideas?

drive it up on some ramps and pull it from right behind the latch with some pliers. should work. unless it broke right at the latch. then just pull it.
