Default NEW HERE

Hey guys im new to hondatech and i just bought a boosted 99 si. This seems like a very informational site and im looking to learn as much as possible on here. i had a few quetions about my cr and was hopeing you guys could answer.

1st- when im driving and i start slowing down to come to a stop light or stop sign i go to downshift into 1st and it grinds real bad. I tried pushing the clutch to the floor and still no cigar. its not like im speeding when i do it neither. im not sure what it was but i was thinking of bleeding or adjusting the clutch especially since there is alot of freeplay in the pedal.

2nd- when i start the car or even sometimes when im driving theres like a knocking noise. i dont believe it has anything to do with the motor but i can feel it in the break pedal when its happening. it happenes on and off and it happened this morning so i put it in neutral and let the clutch out and it went away. any idea wht this is?

Sounds like a clutch issue. Maybe a broken finger or two. If you have a lot of freeplay, it might even be worn real bad, especially since you just bought it, and its got a turbo. Those factory clutches are not known for their outstanding power capacity. And the hydro clutches are self adjusting. the only thing you can adjust is the pedal height and free play.

I wouldn't trust somebody else's turbo project. But for starters, you should have the clutch replaced.

Don't put your car in 1st gear while your moving.

Generally a bad idea unless your racing and really need to be in 1st.

That knocking is likely a transmission bearing. If you turn a/c, fan, and radio off, listen quietly. Release and engage your clutch. If you hear a change and hear the "knocking" it's your isb, or your throwout bearing.
