New headlight bulbs are melting my harness. What are some bright bulbs that are safe?
Alright i bought some new headlight bulbs, and they are VERY bright. But the wattage is way to hot for stock wiring, and melted my harness where it connected to the bulb.
Stock Bulbs 12V60/55W
J Halogen Spec R 12V100/90w
I need some new bulbs that are Very bright and wont burn my harness. Im guessing Silverstars will do they trick but they are around $50-60. Someone told me MTECH bulbs would do the trick, but i looked at the wattage and it looked the same as the burners.
And no i dont wanna do H.I.D.s.
Also, Is there anyway to keep my nice Bulbs and upgrade my harness? When i had my halos, (haha) i had a H3 upgraded harness kit. Could i use that and slice an H4 connection on the end?
Thanks for the help

I have the silverstars in my 96 hatch and I love them. Their brighter than high beam bulbs in the low beam projector in my 90 hatch. $20.00 a piece is pricey, but worth it. autozone warrenties them.

damn that sucks, but i would suggest to go with the silverstars. theyre really bright compared to stock and not blue or anything, just white as can be. cant beat them for that price, i saw them at autozone for 15 bucks each the other day, try them.peace

why don't you just run relays and new larger gauge wiring directly off the battery?

I love my silverstars. They work great. I dont have the money for a nice hid set up, so the $40 I spent on my 2 silverstars work for me. They last quite awhile also! They lasted a little over 1 year in my accord. That is good enough for me. For some reason, the light output in my civic is much brighter than my accord.

If you want to stay with the same wattage the brightest bulb is Sylvania Xtravision NOT the silverstars. If you are just looking for MAX output on the road go with those.

no other halogen light will be brighter than stock unless u up the wattage (will melt your harness). i went with hid's and have never looked back. **** wasting $40 on lightbulbs that will blow out in 1 yr. just get hid's. do it once and do it right.
**edit: anyways, on my old car (96 accord) i spent about $200 on differents sets of lights.... switching b/c of poor output, melted harnesses, defective bulbs (most aftermarket hid look bulbs are made to low standards). so when i bought lights for my civic, i just bought one set: hids.

i dont know about the quality of bulbs you bought but i have had no probs with my bulbs. i have catz but im not using them right now so i let my friend use them. i am using gold ion bulbs they are pretty good. i would just suggest getting foglights ontop of the regular lights if you want more brightness and dont wanna get hids.
