New guy here with a odd window wiper problem, hope you guys can help
Hi all,
I picked up a used 1998 civic DX coupe 5spd with 130K on it. Great little car I commute 70 miles one way from Palm Coast FL to Jacksonville. So far this site has been great and I found everyting I needed to know, except the window wiper issue I'm having.
So here is the problem,
The wipers don't work. So I started to check the fuses and found the fuse schemtic on the site and there was no fuse there in the slot on my car. So I installed a fuse and now the wipers work. But don't turn off low speed works so does high but it will not turn off. So i went to my local parts store and they told me that I might have to replace the whole stock because the switch might be messed up. Has anyone else delt with this before. Is there anything else I should look for before buying the $90.00 part? I really think this will fix the problem but want to make sure.

is it the wiper switch that has lo hi and intermittent? or the one that only has lo and hi? if you wait till trial status is up, you will find an abundance of people with extra stuff laying around that will sell much less than the dealer. one such person is myself. i have both switches but will sell you one when your off trial status.

Had the same problem in my eg. The wiper control level on the right of the steering wheel was messed up. They would turn on at random times and wouldn't stay off. I went to the dealer too and thought $90 was alottt. Then I went to the junkyard and they still charged me $35 which I thought was a lot for a junkyard part. Got it though now everything is fine. $35<$90.

Thanks you, I found this in another Fourm as well but you confirmed it. Now I wish I spent the money on the motor instead of the switch. Oh well live and learn.
