new to the game
I am looking to get a 96 or 97 civic. I just wanted to know a little info. Do the different types matter like hx, ex, lx. Also does milage matter since i am probably going to modify the car. One more thing what is a good price range to stay in with the type of year civic i want. eventually i want to swap engines. Any info will help.

YES Milage matters.
Even if you plan to modify, high milage vehicles have that much more abuse.
HX = Light weight coupe with VERY high gearing in the tranny.
EX = Heaviest of the group but, shortest gearing and highest horsepower engine.
LX/CX/DX = Same engine and transmission, all lowest horsepower just over 100 at the flywheel.
If you are stuck on a coupe, get the HX! Especially if you plan to swap. That lightweight body is awesome.
If you are getting a Hatchback, suggest looking into the 92-95's. Very Lightweight.
