New fuel cuz of low octane?
Well, when my piston melted i had a full tank of 87 octane in my car. and now im building a fresh ls/vtec b18b1 block, gsr head and b16a pistons. should i drain the 87 or could i nurse my motor until i can get 91 octane?

Depending on how long it is before you get the motor ready, you may want to drain it anyway. I have heard that it is not good to use gas once it gets really old. Any why would you use 87 octane anyway?! j/k.
I would drain it anyway and throw in 93 octane. Unless of course you are in Cali. Which would suck.

you can buy additives to raise your octane, just dump a bottle of octane booster in there if you are worried about it. no need to drain the tank
nighttrain is correct tho, as gas gets old it seperates and turns into a varnish-like liquid that can gunk up your entire fuel system. if it is going to be awhile until you ise the gas, buy a bottle of fuel stabilzer. we use this when we store anything with gas in it for any length of time. good, cheap insurance

i edited my post, forgot about fuel stabilzer until i hit the post button lol
i think its called "Stabil" or something like that, motorcyclists use it all the time when storing bikes for the winter
