NEW d16y7 ECU running weird.
My car recently just died yesterday, we thought it was the distributor but it was the ECU. My stock ecu was a p2e on a d16y7 00 civic ek, when we replaced it my friends dad (mechanic) just picked it up from some shop and we put it in. Now when I drive my idle is different and my acceleration at low rpm is way slower, doesn't pick up fast enough, and my high rpm is kicking in stronger at like 2.5-3 rpm but at the same time when I'm in this zone my car beings to bog, like my throttle body response is not quick enough, anyone know the reason why? We think it might be the d16y8 ecu? But there's no check engine. And also when we tested my dizzy, they said that my dizzy is bad that it turns on and off, so can that be another reason? And is this bad for my car that its running like that? Anything going to happen to my engine? Thanks for your help!

Maybe he grabbed an automatic when you needed a manual or vice versa? I'm thinking there's IACV differences between the two but I could be wrong, wait for someone to quote me on that.

There are IACV differences, one is 2-wire, one is 3-wire, there would be a code if it's not hooked up properly. But if there are no codes, it sounds fishy. Make sure your CEL is working, unplug your IACV and restart the car and drive a little bit. If a code doesn't pop up, check out your CEL bulb. If it were the y8 ecu, you would be getting a code for at least vtec and knock sensor. If you would just check the ecu code on the box it will help us all out.

Also, while it doesn't necessarily have to happen, wouldn't it been a good chance that he would have gotten a code 0 when his other ECU died?

well i dont have check engine light for the vtec or knock sensor, everythings off check engine is off. my old ecu was a p2e, when my friends dad picked the other one up it was the same ecu, p2e. and i heard if it is an automatic my car would run but the ecu would burn quite quickly, and im pretty sure its not the automatic. its just that its running really weird, where do i check CEL?

for a code: https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/how-pull-cel-d4-srs-abs-codes-code-lists-1901557/
to replace the bulb: you need to take the cluster out and figure out which bulb is the CEL bulb and replace it

^No, even easier way.
All you need to do to make sure it works is to turn your key all the way forward. If your CEL doesn't flash, then it does not work.
