I just replaced my clutch its an exedy oem on my d16z6 tranny.

When i first put it on it was fine but now at about 30 miles of driving the car it slipps pretty bad if i give any more than like 20 % throttle.


-Another thing is that the clutch pedal became harder to press down.

-Also if i press the clutch pedal completely down, the shifter WILL NOT go into gear, I have to press it about 80% of the way down for it to go in.

Are you sure you installed it correctly?

did you have the flywheel resurface?

bleed the clutch again, make sure there is no bobble in the line.

installed the clutch correctly? yeah i did it just like it says in the helms, how can you install it wrong? examples?

no, i didnt resurface the flywheel but it didnt have any hot spots

I did bleed the clutch several times

its hydro so take rubber sleeve off the piston on the slave cyl. see if its got full travel. You may need to adjust the clutch from under dash. It might be oil on clutch surface?

sounds like install.. probably overtightening, leading to the final snapping of a couple of those little 10mm star bolts holding the pressure plate to the flywheel.

it won't go into gear all the way pressed down cause its putting to much pressure on the tob together with the stiffness of the diapragm actually causing the whole p/p to move in and further engage the clutch. light pressure will allow it to relatively disengage w/o throwing all the axes into causing more pressure... best i can explain it, seen it happen before, and i'm sure i'll see it again...

how could i over tighten it? i did it to 20lbs feet of torque using a torque wrench. is there anyway to fix it? what about the slipping? if the pressure plate was putting too much pressure then why would it slip?

Simple

did you have greazy fingers or hands when installing anything... i just did a tranny swap and remembered that i whiped everything off with a cloth that was a LITTLE greazy....

clutchwas fine until i leaned into it then was slipping like a **** for the first 3 days... maybe yours just needs some time to burn off... if that be the case... give it a couple days and if it doesnt improve... you might un-install it and try agian

I just did mine on tuesday. Hopefully I will not run into this problem. I would try bleeding the clutch again and if that doesn't seem to help it out, then do the rest of the suggestions. good luck man.

Well it's common to resurface the flywheel regardless if you see hot spots or not. Same thing happened to my teachers truck, new clutch and pressure plate, WITHOUT resurfacing. 100 miles down and it started slipping up the butt. Turned out to be the flywheel. Got it resurfaced, problem solved.

Hot spots are not the only reason why one should resurface a flywheel. If its warped then there is also need to resurface. That flywheel looks like ***. I would have resurfaced that for sure without even thinking twice. VERY important to proper clutch function. Also, your clutch pedal could be incorrectly adjusted. It sounds an awfull lot like the problem I had with my CX with D16Z6 when I bought it. The guy told me the clutch was bad. I drove it home from southern California and could see what he was complaining about. Took me about 2 mins after I got to adjust the pedal and the clutch worked 100% fine.

I tried adjusting the pedal but no luck. It seems as if when i first drive the car, the it goes into gear fine but after a while, it wont go in if i press the pedal all the way.

OH YEAH, when im driving, while the car is in 4th gear, If i push on the shift lever, it will go out of gear without me having to push the clutch pedal. I dunno what that means, maybe someone know?

I can do that on my car also.. Apply light pressure and you can get any car to "pop" out of gear while moving without pushing in the clutch.

If you are SURE you have it adjusted correctly then I would say to double check your install. Only after that would I rule the clutch as defective.

could it maybe be a bad slave cylinder or maybe Clutch master cylinder? the CMC isnt leaking i checked already. the weird thing is that before i changed the clutch, it would go into gear perfectly and everything with the way the clutch pedal is now.

If it worked before, how come i have to change the position of the pedal now? Oh yeah today i got on it a little bit and i think i smelled burning clutch.

Because it could have been adjusted incorrectly before. I honestly don't know the whole story behind the deal, or I would have the answer for you. I suppose it IS possible the master cylinder or slave cylinder are failing, but I doubt it if it worked fine before.

haha i can shift from 2nd-3-4-5 without pushing down the clutch. just have to be at the right rpms......~~~2500

Soooooo...*thinking*....Your Splines have pressure on them,the disk is fine.....since you can take it out of gear with slight pressure. $$Check the Throw out bearing and see if it dis-engauges. take the slave off and see if the lever goes side to side, the whole way! This IS the answer to your problamo!
