Default NEW CAR/ wierd clutch / ideas...

So I work at a car dealer (Toyota Knoxville) and this lady comes in shopping for her son a car that's more practical for college. I was currently driving a 97 tacoma minitruck (after about a dozen other hondas). I later found out the car she was trading in was her son's 1999 Honda Civic Si. I was excited because right then and there I knew I could get the car for 300 bucks over trade in value. So after the car deal, I ended up trading my truck for the EBP EM1, one of the cleanest examples ever for only $7100. low milage for the year and everything. But anyway, I drive off first day and shift hard into second and the clutch rides/slips badd! Well a few days later after some spirited driving the clutch works as if it's brand new. I just ordered an exedy kit with a flywheel and I'm having second thoughts about putting it in right now and just saving up some more for an LSD. Was the clutch just merely out of adjustment, did the kid just get a new one put in that he failed to mention to me? I have no idea. Also I've been looking at a few diferent LSD's I've heard the OBX has the axle problem, the quiafe is high $, I dont know many people running the Kaaz dif. What would be the best thing to do, I'm building a budget street car, maybe 170-185whp max.

It may be possible that the clutch was glazed or something along those lines, either that or you just got used to driving it?

If you bought the Exedy, might as well as throw it in there. Only way you'll find out what's wrong with the other clutch IMO.

As for the LSD, you really going to need it with 185whp max?

Yup if it was a kid driving it, espetially if it was never realy driven hard then I'd have to go with glazed too. the gets to be lots of dust and crap in there and I fell you gotta drive it har do get it out. Also a few days ago I was reading up on the logic behind a proper brake seating procedure. I was suprised to find out that the purposes are twofold. Part has to do with getting enough heat in the pad to burnoff/release the resings that are part of the composite for holding the pad together during manufacturing.

Food for though.. same type of idea, who knows? That clutch should last for many years/miles.
