New Calipers and Rotors?

New Calipers and Rotors?
Yeah, it's been awhile (a couple years) since my last post...but hey the car is runnin' great.....323,000mi on my 97Hx cpe. At any rate--I just discovered my first oil leak---a couple of places agreed with the oil pan gasket diagnosis--they both said the oil pan gasket needs replacing. One place also said I needed new rotors and new calipers--the other place said my calipers and rotors were fine--just need to face the rotors abit. Anyone have an opinion about replacing or turning down the rotors. And how hard is it for me to remove the rotors and take them in?
I have always done my own brake work and the rotors have more than plenty of meat to them, I have never seen a crack in them and never had any problems. I never let my brake pads get under an 1/8" thin. I clean them regularly---but the one place says I need to spend $450 on a whole new set up!
I just had the right cv boot and axle replaced and at the next oil change I am thinking I will have the left one done plus whatever I need to do for the front brakes. One place wants a total of $770 w/ the new calipers and rotors---the other can turn down the rotors and put in a new gasket and do the cv axle and boot for less than $400 total. It would be nice to save $370..

just do it yourself man..... rotors, calipers, pads are easy to install.....oil pan gasket is also easy....just drain the oil.....unbolt.....insert new gasket....and CAREFULLY torque the bolts back in...

Calipers don't go bad generally. If your brakes dont work, they could be spongy, but them braking isnt common. You may want a shop to do your other work, but get some new brembo blank rotors and pads and do that yourself. You can get new pads and rotors for a LOT less than they charge you.
