New Build NEED WIRING HELP!

New Build NEED WIRING HELP!
just finished and sold my dc4 project and now picked up an eg with a d16z6 in it. first off im not too familiar with d series...almost every car (honda wise) i have worked on was either a b series or k series. the car is pretty much complete and runs and drives, but the wiring is a mess. there is wires snipped, twisted and taped together. looks like a primitive ape built this car. i need to sort it all out bc it has an idling issue at times, runs rich, has check engine light, and i dont believe vtec is crossing over (wiring is iffy on harness for solenoid and no classic vtec sound). the kid also put in terrible hid's and the wiring is terrible. only the high beams work, not the hid's. i am willing to buy a section of the harness for the headlights to bring back to oem,but i would rather fix the hids. also the blinker doesnt work. it lights up as a parking light(car is usdm) but doesnt blink(also wiring is iffy). i will post pics, please help. ty.

I would suggest getting a junk yard harness if you can find a non cut up one and using that but if it's not TOO bad maybe just solder the stuff instead of having it twisted and taped. hard to undo wiring hack jobs

Re: New Build NEED WIRING HELP!
I would recommend getting a wiring diagram so you can clean up that mess, as for the turn signals take out the socket and make sure it has the right bulb "yes I know it sounds stupid" but if you dont have the right bulb in there the turn signal will always light up but not blink.

Re: New Build NEED WIRING HELP!
heres the thing...i would love to get a new harness but idk what car to take it from....do i get one for a d16z6? or do i get one for a 95 eg? mind you im not sure what model civic i really hav...it doesnt have power windows or steering so thats cx i believe? also i believe its a p28 ecu but the previous owner told me that the ecu is faulty and that thats the cause for the idle problem...if i get a new ecu and harness what exactly would i have to get? im posting pics of what i actually have now

Re: New Build NEED WIRING HELP!
Its not a ex because ex are only coupes and sedans, and its not a si because it doesnt have a sunroof, so its either a dx, vx, or cx model so that wouldnt be the stock engine, p28 is the ecu that goes with the d16z6. You said it has a check engine light so get the code by jumping the 2 pin connector found in the passgener side kick panel,

Re: New Build NEED WIRING HELP!
Regardless of whatever trim he has, a complete D16Z6 engine harness can be found in 93-95 EX and SI civics. Its also possible his CEL is due to having the wrong type of P28 in it (IE manual trans, auto ECU, or something of that nature). OP do as asked and pull the codes once you get the harnesses properly sorted.

Re: New Build NEED WIRING HELP!
heres the thing,i checked the VIN and its a cdm dx civic...so you are accurate, its a swap. problem is the 2 prong connector is missing off the ecu (there is photos in my photobucket i posted) im familiar with jumping the ecu to pull codes unfortunately i had to do it often to my integra, but i cannot locate the connector, its not in the kick panel area, behind the glove box,or running off the ecu harness
