Re: New Build, D16Y8
The new body kit from Wings West came in Wednesday so I decided to get it put on today. Came out a hell of a lot better than the Duraflex garbage I tried the first time around. I did have to relocate the intercooler to behind the front bumper support instead of under it. I think I like it better in the new location anyways. I also went ahead and threw the headlights and tail lights on to see how it all looked together.

Re: New Build, D16Y8
I don't but I'll take a few tomorrow when I get back to the shop and post them up here for you.
I slapped my old junk head on the block today to get the oil return line mocked up so I could figure out exactly where I wanted to weld the bung to the oil pan. Decided to set the valve cover on and throw a couple bolts in the intake manifold to see what she's gonna look like when I finally get my head in and get her dressed. All I can say is I WANT MY FRIGGIN HEAD more than ever now. :D

Wow, nice! I'm surprised though.. It doesn't seem anyone flamed you for using a turbonetics turbo and not a Garrett, Borg Warner, or some other 3000 dollar unit.. **shrug**

Anywho.. I'm also watching this one to see it through. I'm putting together a similar build on a B7.

Re: New Build, D16Y8
Unfortunately I haven't had any updates to post. I'm still waiting on the head from 4 Piston. 118 days and counting. I actually received word today that they expect to ship it Monday. If they do I should have it on hand by next weekend which means there will be lots of updates!
As to the Turbonetics question, I've personally never had a problem with any of their ball bearing units and I think for my modest power goals it should be more than sufficient.

I've never seen this thread until now, but you have my attention, sir. Cheers to you.
Who says you need a B or K to make power? I like where this is going.

Re: New Build, D16Y8
Big news! The cylinder head came in last Thursday! Now I can start getting this bad boy assembled. I've worked on it for about an hour over the past couple nights. Got the head bolted on and torqued down, cam and rockers installed. Cam gear is on and dialed in at 0 degrees, timing belt installed, valve lash set and spark plugs installed. Going to get some more done today. Need to find a good welder to take care of welding the A/N fittings onto my oil pan (oil return) and valve cover (catch can). Here's a few pics of what I've done since Thurday.
4 Piston Racing Outlaw D16 CNC Ported Cylinder Head
NGK BKR7E plugs gapped at .030", Valve Lash set to factory spec.

Re: New Build, D16Y8
Thanks!
Did a little more work today. Got the A/N fitting welded to the oil pan. The one that came with the turbo kit was apparently unusable due to it being steel. Stole one from the catch can kit so I could at least carry on with assembly. Will get another next week so I can get the valve cover welded up. Also bolted on the Intake Manifold, Oil Pan, Water Inlet and installed the coolant temp sensor and switch. Progress was slow today due to having to take a wire wheel to all the fasteners and chase all the threads. It's a labor of love though! On the agenda for tomorrow is getting the Exhaust Manifold, Turbo etc bolted up, painting the timing covers and installing them along with a few other sensors and the VTEC Solenoid. Until then, I leave you with the latest pics.

Re: New Build, D16Y8
A customer of mine came by to pick up his gf's car the other day and said he used to have (why USED TO HAVE??? Idk...) a boosted D16 pushing 325hp. He showed me pics. That thing was tight, but this is torqed to spec.

Re: New Build, D16Y8
The motor is almost fully assembled. I've got the Valve Cover in the oven right now curing. I had to repaint it after having the fittings for the Catch Can welded on. After I've cooked it for a couple hours I'll bolt it up and my baby will be ready to receive her shiny new flywheel, clutch and pressure plate, be bolted to the transmission and dropped in! I'm excited. :D :D :D I plan on having the motor and trans installed this weekend but it'll still be another couple weeks before I fire her up. Still need to finish the suspension, put in the gauges and fuel pump and a few other little items here and there not to mention getting her tuned. Will update with pics of the install after the weekend. In the mean time, here she is in her current state.
