Default New Ball Joint problem HELP, LOOK PLS

Brand new honda ball joint. 93 civic ex

i already messed up the boot (oops)

look at the picture, can you tell me where the c clip is supposed to be.

usually there is a reciever groove for the c clip to sit in, but this one is smooth.

ther is none on the energy suspension bushing. what i did with mine was, i just added alittle more bearing grease, threw on the boot right before i installed the knuckle to the LCA. once the joint, boot, and knuckle are together, the boot stays in place, keeping in the grease and protecting the joint.

if i'm not mistaken the clip will go right underneath the top of the joint. there is a small groove already there. i can see it in your picture. it should be on the opposite of the threaded side.

Yup, that little ring/notch just before the top base of the joint is where the c-clip goes on. I just did mine a few days ago.

Here's a pic of how it should look and where it goes after the ball joint is pressed in. Sorry so blurry. This was on one of my old Hubs laying around.

Is this the lower ball joint in the front? Was wondering how do you go about removing it because my bolt's thread is stripped.

you really shouldnt have to use any clip if you have a good product it is a press in type and dosent need a clip. but if it came with one and I know all the aftermarket ones do then it should have a place for it like in one of the pics posted. but like I said with a good product it is not necessary. if you go get a oem one it wont come with a clip.

huh, WHAT?! oem ones come with a clip, so you are saying oem ones aren't a good product? do you even know why the clip is there to begin with?

The new style OEM honda ball joints doesn’t have a c-clip (honda realized it’s useless and not necessary) check the picture in my sig. The stock ball joint on my 00 civic doesn’t have a C clip either, and that ES dust/grease cover looks like a piece of **** (just like there crappy bushings)

some one has a grudge against ES? got them on my suspension, and i'm quite happy with it.

as for the ball joint, didn't know the new oem ones don't have a clip. good to know.
