Default need of trouble-shoot..Ek specific

Whats up Honda-Tech. I am completely new to the scene coming from a Euro background and will hopefully have some form of Honda before Eibach in May.

Anyways, a friend of mine recently acquired a EK coupe, with an ITR swap and turbo. It has been giving him a couple of problems:

Mainly an oil leak, Vtec cut out, and detonation. Tonight, we are cruising home from a meet and Vtec would not crack at all, if it did, it would crack at 7k to 7500! Whats up with that? The detonation occurs around 6000 on and off. It seems to get better as the car warms up. Can someone trouble shoot the problems? Any insight is welcome!

I don't really know on all the other stuff. But for the record I will tell you its VTEC, and not VTECH. You will get flamed running around telling people your VTECH is crackin at 7,000RPMs when in fact its not because VTECH is a type of Phone and probably other electronic equipment I can buy at Wal-Mark.
