Need tranny help in MN
My tranny has been abused. (in very bad shape) bearings, syncros, gears, I have no clue. It sounds and performs like junk. I have decided that a complete transplant would be easier the fixing. I have 107k miles on right now with minor mods and need a clutch as well. Anyone in MN help me please. What's the best tranny for a d16y8 and recommended clutch & possible flywheel package. Where's the best place or person to get this stuff. (Very aggressive daily driver & some strip) I am new to H-T so please, any form of help would be great.

Re: Need tranny help in MN (HATCHingMN)
That's good to know. I haven't checked there yet. My second question was what tranny does better??? - or should I just stick with a stock ex tranny? Also, clutch-flywheel combo recommendations anybody.

stick with EX tranny....
many will say NOT to get a lightened flywheel, but i have one and love it.
STOCK MACHINED FLYWHEEL to 14 lbs.
my next upgrade is an aftermarket flywheel, maybe 12 lbs, 10 would be nice, im thinking 8 would be too much on a MILD SOHC with only head work.

Re: Need tranny help in MN (STREETWERKZ)
I'm gonna go with a exedy racing organic clutch and act streetlite flywheel. Main thing is just search there all all kinds of posts which clutch is better but find one you like, and if it fits your budget. But your question about the tranny the best one for you to get is what you had, just get another one. Haven't you learned that beating the **** out of your tranny is not a good thing

Thanks for the info. And, Yes, I know that beating on my tranny is bad. But man is it fun!!! ha ha ha. ....... With all seriousness, I do take care of my ride. I have no idea what happened. One day it just started making this sound and since, it's been getting worse and worse.

Re: Need tranny help in MN (bjscivic)
deffinately stick with the EX tranny. Best gear ratios for the weak D-series motors. I would recomend either the ACT Heavy duty (55% over stock) or the Extreme (100% over stock) pressure plate. Use the street strip disc to go with whichever pressure plate you choose. The Heavy duty will give you a nice feeling clutch pedal with an engagement point about an inch to an inch and a half off of the floor. The Extreme will clamp harder and wear out the disc slower but will be a stiffer clutch pedal and an engagement point about a quarter to a half inch off the floor. If you like me, you'll get the extremem pressure plate because it makes it hit harder, makes the disc last longer, but still smooth. Combined with the ACT clutch kit, go with the street light flywheel. Its nice. weighs 12 lbs. Go with what you want though, good luck choosing.
