Need sum help on stock redline?

i just finish a swap on a 91 civic with a 93 civic CX motor now i dont know what is factory redline on the cx so i dont blow it up! right now i m running a HF ecu

Deemeetree 09-21-2004 07:39 AM

Regardless of what the redline is, why do you want to take it up that high? That motor makes next to nothing on horsepower and torque. That is an economical motor to get you from point A to point B. No need to redline.

If you do want to know, I'm guessing in the 6,200-6,400 range.

so much for economical! for sum reason it runs really rich and use a lot of gas!!! since im running the HF ecu, the redline are 4500rpm so i was wondering if i can go abit higher

The motor can, your ECU won't let it. Since the redline on the ECU is at 4,500 RPM, you're probably going to bounce off the rev-limiter in the area of 4,600-5,000 RPM.

Check your timing and ignition system and find out why it's running rich. Also, do a valve adjustment while you're at it. 8 valves, wouldn't take much time.

when i had the stock motor in my cx i didn't make much power past 4500 rpms.

RapeV-8 09-21-2004 08:07 AM

OK i didnt feel any power at all at any rpm!!! my stock dx motor can do better! o well got the motor w/80000 mi, new timing belt, water pump, and ecu for $100

Deemeetree 09-21-2004 08:15 AM

Like I said, that motor makes next to nothing on power. It's the weakest motor of the 1992-1995 chassis. It's an 8-valve motor made for economical reasons. Yes, a DX motor is more powerfeul than a CX motor. You should have swapped a D15B7. Would've costed you the same. Except you get 102hp instead of, what, 90. https://honda-tech.com/forums/images...s/emsmilep.gif

RapeV-8 09-21-2004 09:00 AM

I think is more like 50hp

2fast4u831 09-21-2004 09:31 AM

yea it makes 70 hp. like 45whp https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emwink.gif this engine sucks.

i have a dx and that is the reason why i'm saving for a new motor.

Yeah you might wonna swap it out for more potent d series, if you drive that thing everyday. I would end up with heart attack because that thing would barely go up to speed. I would be worrying about making it home/work.

RapeV-8 09-21-2004 12:03 PM

i already got a b16 turbo crx and a b18 non vtec 91 hb show car! that just a daily driver and i m going to p/u a winter beater
