Default Need some pointers for time shaving.

well, today i went to my local 1/4 track and did 4 runs, the best time i got was 13.88@ 102.1MPH and was wondering if i could get any pointers on shaving the .8 seconds off of there and try tpo get into the 12's. I ran track slicks and a test pipe when i did it, and on the fourth try I managed to lunch hard. I shifted at least 500 Rpms after each redline on each gear. next time, i'll remove my backseats and run open intake. but i know theres got to be some other things that can shave some time off my 13.88, so then i can go back down there and own that one dude and his old firebird and show what imports are all about.
Thanks in advance!

Why the hell would you shift 500rpm's AFTER your redline?? There's no point in shifting after the redline unless your making power that high. You are probably losing time as you lose power when you rev it out past the redline.

Open intake?? Do you mean open header???

Need to know your whole setup and car. In your sig you said c5 block and head but now you say turbo at 4lbs??? I'd say turn up the boost to at least 7 to take advantage of the turbo being on the car in the 1st place.

I think the only reason he goes a little over redline is so he can stay in the powerband.

its been proven time and again that powershifting is almost pointless, not completely but almost, unless of course ur into breaking stuff. and btw .8 seconds is alot of time to shave off when ur already goin 13.8.

Weight reduction, open header/downpipe, remove rear bumper cover. That should get you pretty close with a good launch.

so you have:

C5 block
b16 head
cams/valves upgrade
turbo with 5lbs of boost
and Intake, header, exhaust (I assume)

I dont know but seems to me like you should be running better than a 13.8
Could be your driving, but I think you can definently improve that time.

hey guys, thanks for the pointers, you've been some good help. my turbo can only go up to5.5 lbs of boost but i do plan to upgrade that. thanks alot. I'll do every single one of these rcommendations, luckily for me, I have a spare ACT clutch on hand and my freind does'nt want his anymore. Thanks! keep the tips coming!

p.s., the Mach 3 turbo thing was funny, LOL, i saw that too, I wonder if they'll do another one, use 50 blades next time.
