Need some more help.
I know Im just a trial user (started today) but Ive read thse forums for a year or mroe. Loong loong time and Ive used the advice. I could not find a topic for what I am looking.
I have currently a 1.5L SOHC Vtec head D15. (custom swap with the head.)
And a muffler I got for 5$ from a friend to help with backpressure a BIT. (have gotten mroe fuel economy though)
Im looking for a swap, either D16 Turbo'd with a 15g Greddy kit and piggyback fuel management
or
LS/Vtec swap. My friends have both of these, the LS/Vtec beat the turbo d mercilessly. I want a faster car, not the fastest on the block, but more fun to drive, yet still retain reliabilty and SOME semblance of gas mieage, like maybe top 20's or mid 30's when not mashin the gas.
I would like around 180-200HP and as much torque as I can get, cause its good.
I know the LS/Vtec is an aweseom setup if done correctly, and I know i COULD do it correctly if taken the time. The only thing is I would like, as stated before, reliability. I know with the D16 at around 6-8 psi I might see 160-180HP, and the LS might be more, but on either engine, if I rev too high/hard which would be more liekly to fail??
The turbo I see as failin cuz of rods/bearings breakin due to too much boost, yet id keep it low enough for that not to be a big problem, as said...6-8psi boost.
But would the LS/Vtec be "safer" or mroe reliable if done right the first time, in the future? any opinions from people with this would be most appreciated.
p.s. could someone help with advantages/disadvantages for each engine, thats the best idea i think (my car will be for autox, hence the name, so would the heavier LS be a problem for understeer?)
