Default Need Some Help. I already searched.

Ride: 1996 Civic DX hatch
2 nights ago I installed a civic EX header because it has 2 O2 bungs. The car has a catback exhaust and doesnt have a 2nd O2 bung until now. The downstream o2 was just chillin under the hood. Anyways, drove it home that night, everything was good and normal. Get up today and was on the interstate and I suddenly hear a single click from the guage cluster area, the speedo falls to 0 MPH and then it throws a CEL. I stop and get something to eat and go start it up and it no power surges. During the surge, when the power goes up, the speedo will jump around to every speed but the correct speed. The rpms will also go up and down. Then i go to a friends house and pull out the speed sensor and it appears to be in good working order. I pull the code and it turns out to be 3 codes in all. 2 of them are the 2 o2 sensors and the last one scares me a bit. PCM Code P1298 Electric Load Detector (ELD) Circuit High Voltage. On the code print out, it says the probable causes are 1. open or short circuit condition. 2. failed ECM. Never knew this code existed. Has anyone ever ran into this problem before? any help is appreciated.

Did you check your wires around that area to see if they are chafing?

Id also check all your grounds. You can hear a click if you lose either power or ground in certain areas. Sounds like something simple is pretty loose. Has it came back at all?

the speedo surges along with the power. its whacked out. also, the odometer and trip meter do not work. I got this little auto zone printout of the code and the main causes are:
1. plugged air filter ( mine is 2 days old )
2. plugged fuel filter ( unknown condition )
3. defective fuel pump ( 1 year old Walbro 255 )
4. ignition system weak-misfires, defective coil.
Correct me if im wrong, but the CEL will flash under misfire. So i believe #4 is kinda ruled out for the most part.
I work a weird work schedule but i will be checking all the wires i can see tomorrow when its light outside.

Thank you for you help Dunn

I just dealt with this on my 96 dx coupe. these cars are garbage and all seem to have the same problems I would put money on it being this TSB just find the chaffed wire, and REPLACE THE FUSE
