Default Need some help...buying a motor

As someof you may know I lost my D16y8 motor and need a new one......HARD TO FIND....but anyway, i found one that claims to have 30k on the clock, supposedly runs strong, and is being sold by a engine shop, they tell me it just needs a new head gasket.....what exactly would a reason for an engine needing a new headgasket be? I'm still in the learning process and would like some input. If you guys could give me some feedback id greatly appreciate it. Thanks again H-T

How much is it? I wouldn't buy a used motor with a blown head gasket unless it was like $100.

Needs a new headgasket because the old one got blown. I'd be very wary of that if it didn't have a warranty on it. If you lose a headgasket and end up overheating the block you can warp it and end up needing a lot more work than just pulling the head to replace the HG.

i dont think a motor wit only 30 000 on it should need a new head gasket. so hes probably lying about the miles
