Default need some help

i was driving my car today and noticed that the belts started to squeak right when i pulled over the battery light came on. i opened the hood and saw that the power steering belt was not on(it was starting to eat away) and the alternator belt went behind the crank pulley. i tried to put the alternator belt on but only half of it got on. i cranked the car and it got back on and drove home with no problems. what would cause something like this to happen?

does this have anything to do with it? this happened about 1000 miles ago but the car has been running fine.
i hope this is not the problem.

I would check the tensioning on the belt. If it was loose, I could see it sliding off like that.

Make sure the crank isn't wobbling and that the crank bolt is TIGHT! Then adjust the accessory belts...
