I finished my front rotors, and pads on the front of my car last night and moved to the back, and I am having alot of trouble getting the piston on the rear calipher to compress to that I can slid it over the new pads, and ideas whould help, I used a c-clamp on the front and it worked fine, but that back won't budge, and no I don't ahve the e-break on.

I am sure you know, but remember, you can open the system on which ever caliper you are on to relieve the pressure so you can compress it further with the C clamp.

Don't get the **** on your paint bro, just a reminder. Good Luck.

The rear brake calipers are very different than the fronts. If you look at the piston, you notice a criss cross notch that the tabs on the pad sits in right? The piston doesn't get compressed like the front, it actually needs to be turned like a screw to move it back. Now I'm not sure if it's clockwise or counter-clockwise, I don't have my Chilton's in front of me. They say you need a special tool, but a really wide flathead screwdriver also works. Trust me, I changed my back pads myself and this is what has to be done. I also used a C-clamp with no success and was getting really pissed untill I read the manual, something I should have done in the first place, but you live you learn. Hope this helps you.

You need to turn the piston to compress it. It screws in clockwise. I used needle nose pliers to turn it. When you put the pads back in make sure you line up the little "tab" on the inner pad to fall into the slot on the piston. That's why the tab is there.

Not sure what you mean but I don't think you'd want to relieve the pressure. It sounds like you're talking about opening the bleeder. This would draw air in. You don't wanna do that. Then you gotta bleed the brakes. No need to bleed the brakes if you're just changing pads.

you should probably bleed the brakes while you're down there anyways.

they make a tool specifically for the rear caliper, you can buy it at most part stores for cheap, it goes on the caliper and then you attach a ratchet and crank it back in, very simple with the right tool.
