Default Need Replacement motor in Dallas need some advice

We have a 97 Civic EX with no mods, we had water dmg car locked up, long story short theres a bent rod, Dealer ship says they can fix for 3250.00 giving a 50k'ish mkotor replacement. I called intercrew autosolon and a Y8 swapout is 1750.00 roughly.

Obviously it's going to total out if insurance gets involved, the car has 139K. The car is in great cosmetic shape, I would like to get another motor swapped in to replace it. Does anyone in Dallas know a place to have the motor replaced at a decent price, this is just a daily driver, I dont want bigger motor or anyhtign other than to make it drivable again. I can afford to drop $2kish, new car is NOT an option.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

2k to spend.u can get a pretty decent and complete b18b or maybe with ls vtec swap and then u still have some money left to pay for the labor for the swap. normally labor costs around $500

This is not a car I want to make mods to. Its an automatic, My fiancé drives it to school and she is a nanny that drives a 4 year old daily. I am looking for a cheaper option if possible 2k Is all I can afford to spend but I'd rather stay in a range of $1200-1500.

Why dont you just rebuild it? Assuming that there is no damage to the cylinder walls.

Another option is to just find a mechanic to do the work locally and you purchase the motor online and have it shipped to the mechanic doing the work. I would think it would be much cheaper than going through the dealership.

Here’s a list of some mechanics in your area from craigslist. You can pick which ever one like. http://dallas.craigslist.org/aos/

Here’s a link to a reputable Online motor dealer with reasonable prices. The guys name is Steve and he steer you in the right direction on your motor. http://hmotorsonline.com/

Good luck
