Need quick purchase advise..
I need a new radiator for my civic.
I've searched and people have been giving good reviews on ebay's ALUMINUM radiators.. but I need opinions on purchasing an OEM Replacement radiator from there...
Specifcally: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...wItem
What do you think, seriously. If I could get this one, all would be good since I didn't plan on even needing to replace it!!

not thinking that radiator is a good idea...cooling is somewhat vital to a motor
But, im also interested in that price.

Get one from an autoparts store. I got one for $100 from advance auto parts a few years ago. Build quality is excellent, and it keeps my car way cool

Yeah, I was gonna say the same thing, one from pep boys or autozone or advance auto parts or some ****.. You don't need some massive super cooling ****** 5 core intercooler, especially if ur going stock...u wanna buy fluidyne(sp?) go ahead, but I don't think u'd need it...as for the ebay one, I wouldn't trust it per-se, but I'm sure it works fine...

I went there and seen no such thing. Shoot me a link for an all metal (inc metal tanks) radiator for a 92 civic for ~$100... It must have been a REDICULOUS sale because they wanted over $200 for their all metals...
This is crazy... expletive this expletive expletive car. POS.
It's not like I'm trying to hate on any other radiators but like now that I get to thinking I'm wondering something:
- If everyone loves going OEM so much for reliability why trust a radiator from AZ but not ebay? I guess AZ is more reliable in a way, and a hell-of-alot easier to take up warranty issues with, and also you get to see the product before you buy it...
But why trust the AZ/AVP/NAPA Radiator?
Man I'm urked becuase I have to put more money into this car than I can afford. If this is how it's going to be I might as well get brand new colored radiator hoses too!
Thanks for your replies guys, I appreciate it.

Re: (Paprika)
I bought a lifetime warranty Modine radiator from a local parts house for $98.00 or so. Its nice to know if I have any issues down the road they should take care of it. That ebay the seller will be long gone with your money.

Re: (packthis)
yeah Autozone wants $98.99 for a TRANSPRO.. which I think is Modine after doing some Googling..
http://webbase.transpro.com/ca...32352
.. and they should have it in stock.
I'll be calling all the local parts suppliers to see who has the best price, never the less It looks like i'll be getting the radiator from a local spot. I dunno how to repalce the radiator yet (gotta look in the manual).. but I hope I don't have to remove the front bumper...

Re: (Paprika)
No bumper removal required.
Step 1 Drain radiator plug is on the bottom (move in cabin heat to on position in car)
Step 2 Remove all hose clamps and hoses
Step 3 Remove single top bolt holding the radiator mount.
Step 4 Unplug fan motor
Step 5 Remove fan motor and install on new radiator
Step 6 Reinstall make sure rubber inserts are on bottom of radiator pegs
Step 7 Fill with coolant and make sure system is bled completely
Step 8 Make sure the fan kicks on.
Nothing is really required in terms of exotic tools just a 10mm wrench a pair of pilars. Its also a good idea to take this time to inspect your hoses and maybe change the thermostat. I would also recommend picking up a new radiator cap.
BTW I recommend using Honda coolant stay away from GM Dexcool.
Total time to do mine including hoses was about 40 minutes and I was working slow because I was sick and it was raining.

Re: (packthis)
Yeah I've only used the Honda Genuine stuff in the grey bottle since I've gotten the car. I dunno nothing about that Dexcool yet..
Glad I don't have to remove the bumber though, thanks for your reply.

Hey kids, I dropped in the new radiator from Autozone the other day. After fixing minor leaks due to loose clamps it's installed and working like a champ~!
Took the car for 2hr round trip on the highway today and it held up well so I think everything is fine...
EXCEPT ... my fan hasn't come on since I put the new radiator in... atleast I hadn't noticed it. When I first installed the new one and was adding new coolant there was a point where I let the car idle in the driveway for atleast 5 minutes, the coolant temp gauge in cluster read the engine was at the normal operating temperature but the fan never came on.
i'll double check the connector in the morning but the temp gauge hasn't read any higher than that 1 single spot it always is at when the car is at normal temp so I haven't had any overheating issues... just that I haven't noticed the fan on yet since the install.... hell it wasn't even on after I got off the interstate earlier today...
I can spin the fan by hand too.. so I know there isn't something blocking the fan blades from moving...
Any other reasons besides a loose connector that this thing may not come on?
I did NOT reset the ECU and yes I used the same fan.
