Need new thermostat?
I just got a new radiator after being in an accident and I've noticed that my operating temperature is a bit lower than it used to be. It also dips down once in awhile for no apparent reason. VTEC is still working properly though. Do I need a new thermostat? And if the thermostat is bad does that mean the car would be running strangely since ECU uses thermostat to determine temps?

No that is normal with a new radiator, it should lower your temperature a little if your old one had become a little less efficient, because of the fins being plugged with dirt and bugs and tiny little stones, and what not. I would say the reason your car is running cooler is because the new radiator is a lot more efficient at what it does.

Doesnt sound like anythings wrong but if your bent on checking the thermo its easy....when you turn the car on from cold only the top tube will heat up for like 15mns....after about that long your thermo should open up and then the bottom rad tube will start to get hot....

Well, nothing really, except once in awhile it dips down to about a 1/4 on the gauge(even after 20+ mins driving), and I'm worried vtec won't kick in. I guess its all good though if everything is functioning, thanks for the help.
