You could swap your transmission for an "EX" model transmission, shorter gearing to get you through the powerband quicker (faster acceleration). You could also go through adding a VTEC head (or a VTEC motor altogether) to get more engine power, but that'll only apply in the high end (which the shorter gear EX transmission would help with too).

An "EX" transmission is about $300 used it seems, and adding a VTEC head shouldn't run you over $200 unless you do a rebuild altogether.

Short of that, you could also run a 40 'shot' of nitrous oxide to help get you through morning traffic.

Overall, you'll probably end up spending a couple of hundred dollars and getting some mechanical experience. If these seem like unfeasable ideas, I'm sure someone else will chime in with something else. (In before "TAKE OUT BACK SEAT".)

are you serious?? an air intake and so called big muffler wont do ****. the big muffler will make it worse most likely. and taking out the rear seats will look like hell and wont help alot. your best bet is a tranny swap or a full motor swap or turbo.

Don't get big muffler. Intake is fine. Headers. Piping (2 1/4 inch). It'll give your car better air flow. High flow cat or gut out your cat. But then on the other hand, this is a reason for u do go a lil bigger. B18 swap???

I still think a B18 would be the optimum choice, but it is a lot of labor and $.
Putting on a "bigger" muffler will probably cut down on back pressure and give you less torque in the low rpms. I would do cold air for sure, then see what you think from there.
