Default need keyy but..

I have a wierd VIN number.. its says it s 91, (which was the year it was made) but its a 92 Civic.. i need a key, but when i went to honda.. they couldnt make me a key.

so is ther a way to rig up like a switch to start the car? i really dont need a key, considering its a drag only car. and theres nothign to steal out of it.. thanks

the VIN says 91 b/c there are production date cut offs... for xample.. like a november of 91 model would already be considered a 92.. i wouldn't know why they can't cut you the key... some counter guys are really stupid.. but I know that if you go to acura.. they have the same key codes as honda... if you find out what your key code is *xplained in the post above* they can cut u a key..

so you have a M in your VIN not a N for the year?
http://www.b18c5eg.com/vins.htm

for a drag only car, you can completely remove the ignition key all together.

if you don't care about Accessory it's even easier.
A switch, a push button, a couple 30amp relays and some soldering skills is all you would need. Let me know if you want to go this way, I can track down all the wire colors and make a quick write up on how to do this for you.

thanks, I threw that together using the info in the Helm manuals. I think I've used it more than anyone else.

If all else fails, go to a junk yard and get a new steering column. They are $35 here in MD with the key.
