Need Ideas on Engine problem
#1
When I start my car and it is cold ( the engine not the outside temp.) it starts up no problem, but it "seeks" from 700 to 2500 RPM until it warms up. I have a AEM intake on it that has been there for about 6 monthes already but this problem just started recently. As long as the engine is warm I can stop and start it again without this happening . Any Ideas would be a great help
#2
After engine is at running temp and I have been driving awhile ( over 10 miles) , I stop at a light and quickly temp starts to rise when I start moving agian above 20 mph the temp quickly drops back down to normal, Have replaced thermostat and am now suspecting the water pump, any ideas ?
Niether problem is critical but the are annoying
Thanks for any help in advance

#2: When the car is COLD, take the radiator cap off and make sure the top tank is full. Even though your reseviour shows full, the coolant level may have gotten too low to draw from the resevoir.
If not, check to make sure the electric cooling fan comes on at idle. If not, check the fuse and relay.

#2 make sure your radiator fan WORKS. at idle there is no air being pulled into the radiator to cool the coolant. hence a temprature rise. but before that check the coolant level

Re: Need Ideas on Engine problem (jabenne)
If your cooling fans don't come on you may need the cooling fan thermoswitch. The cooling fan thermoswitch turns the cooling fans on when engine coolant reaches a set temperature. The cooling fan thermoswitch is by the thermostat housing and has a 2 pin connector going to it. If you have A/C, you can turn the cooling fans on by turning on the A/C. Hope your headgasket's not blown. Losing coolant with no external leaks is not a good sign.
