just picked up a msd digital 6 plus box and were trying to put it into my del sol has a d15b7 in it right now still running the internal coil has anyone else installed one that has a better diagram than the msd site ? can figure it out and for 350$ its pretty aggravating any help would be much appreciated thanks guys.

mainly got it for the ignition cut and my cars boosted just ching chong parts looking to put a semi built ls in it and i was at jegs so i went ahead and picked it up the only write ups ive been able to find are people trying to hook up the two step switch to the clutch pedal the diagram they have is for a different distributor and i thought i traced the wires right but apparently not since it wont start.

Doesn't matter. Stock ignition is good up to 500-600hp. MSD system on these cars are known to wreak havoc. And you can program an ignition cut through your EMS can you not? Good luck to you.

i was checking the site and the diagrams but they only have the 6 series according to everyone else ive talked to the digital 6 plus is different

And it doesn't come with any instructions whatsoever?
I found this when I just searched. 24 page manual for this part number. Did you come across this? Page 21 & 22 deal specifically with Honda ignitions.

I looked at the wiring instructions and nothing seems to complicated and I'm no wiring expert.

yeah i have that manual but as i stated in the first post that diagram is not for my distributor and for the top diagram on page 21 it says black goes to c- and yellow goes to c+ but they are different connections than the coil - and coil + so im not sure what those wires go to thank you for your help and if you find anything else its greatly appreciated.

What do you mean different connections? Different as in spade and ring terminals?

theres 2 ring terminals and 3 spade terminals beside them, the black and yellow wire runs into the dist. to the coil pos and then jumps to one of the spade terminals ill go take a picture real fast

well nevermind trial users cant attach images but it has the 2 ring connectors for the coil pos and neg and then 4 spade connectors 3 on the top and one on the side

So why can't you cut off the ring connectors and solder on spades? If what you're telling me that's the only difference in the diagram.

Don't wire the 2 step to the clutch, you won't be able to preload. And all you do is apply power to the 2 step wire to activate it

yeah most of the things ive found on the subject just involve wiring the 2 step switch to a 12v switch like the washer sprayer or horn cant find any step by step for the whole install

ok heavy red and black=power and ground
orange=neg coil
black=pos coil

red=pos wire(black and yellow) to coil
white=neg wire(white and blue) to coil

accually orange is positive on coil and blk in neg on the coil

yeah but if red i also pos and whites neg why dont they just get wired together then go to the coil?

-big red goes to battery positive
-big blk goes to ground on battery
-small red goes to ignition 12v source (fuse box or any assesorry power with key on)
-grey wire goes to tach
- orange- positive to coil ( coil in the distributor should be marked + or -)
-black- negative of the coil (" ")
MSD boxes are ment to be ran on external coils but to install on your internal coil you must disconnect the wire hooked to the coil + and -. then you connect the orange and black wire to the coil ONLY!!!
- then the red wire will go to the blk/ yellow that came off the coil +
- then splice the white wire goes to the white / blue wire that came off the coil -

you CAN NOT splice the red and white and orange and blk together. the box uses the computers signal and runs through the box out the orange n blk wire to the coil.

were going to try and run an external coil here in an hour or so but your saying you disconnect the coil + and - and connect the orange and black to the actual coil and then run the red and white to the wires that were disconnected from the coil in the first place?

ok got an external coil setup and tested it without the msd in the loop and it ran fine then we ran the wires as follows
MSD black wire to coil neg
MSD orange wire to coil pos
MSD white wire to the old coil negative wire (the negative that was disconnected from the stock coil and then goes to the ignitor)
MSD small red wire goes to a switched 12v

2 step and and timing retard are not hooked up right now just trying to get the box to work the red led light kicks on but it doesnt start!!??

The small red while be connected to the + wire that you in screwed from the factory coil
