Default need help! swapping motors, Ej with ls/v into ek cx, and y7 into EJ

hey guys ive searched but came up short handed with info

i have a 95 ej civic ex with an lsvtec and i have a 98 cx hatch with the stock motor (y7) stick

im switching both motors...

i know that the lsvtec is obd1 with a chipped p28

i would have to wait until i sell the ej with the y7 to have funds to finish my hatch, so i would have to get that running asap

what i do know: i would have to buy a obd2 to obd1 jumper harness, and get a obd2a ex engine harness for the hatch?

doing all of this in a tight budget, my bro and i will be doing the swap (it will be my first swap ever!..... i know....) my bro is a mechanic (not a honda enthusiest) so he doesnt know all these wiring stuff

cliff:

installing a lsvtec from the ej to a 98 cx hatch
installing the y7 thats on the hatch now to the ej,
selling the ej quickly to have money to buy whatever you guys think i should buy to finish my project

Can't switch harnesses. The 95 is a two piece and the 98 is a one piece. Ok this might get tricky but here's the cheapest way:

We'll start with the 95:

Wiring - To make the wiring easier you'll need the intake manifold and injectors from a 92-95 SOHC motor. Once you do this all your sensors are plug and play. You can reuse the exhaust manifold from the Y7 or get the exhaust manifold from the same car you get the intake manifold from. The alternator from the Y7 won't plug in so you'll need to swap over the voltage regulators for it to plug in. For the distributor you'll need to either use a conversion harness or get the distributor from a 92-95 D15B7 engine for plug and play. It almost seems easier to buy a 92-95 D15B7 SOHC engine longblock and sell the Y7.

Mounts: The mounts I believe from the Y7 should swap over to the EJ. Someone can correct me if I am wrong.

Transmission: The Y7 transmission and axles will work in the EJ.

ECU: For ease get a P06 ECU from a 92-95 DX 5 speed. Sell the Y7's ECU as you don't won't to try to convert to OBD2 and wire up all that mess.

Exhaust: The Y7 should bolt right up.

Ok now the EK swap (I don't think this swap will ever pass SMOG in Cali):

Wiring: The cheapest option is to reuse your harness and do some adaptions to various sensors (Alternator plug, Intake air temp sensor, IACV, extend O2 sensor). Also you'll need to use the OBD2-1 ECU adapter. The distributor will also need an adapter as well. Although it would easier to use a 96-98 EX engine harness.

Mounts: You'll need the 99-00 Civic Si T bracket for the rear mount.

Transmission: Reuse transmission and cv axles

ECU: Use the ECU you have with an ECU adapter

Exhaust: You'll need to modify to fit the Y7 exhaust

Hope it helps and please correct or add to me, thanks

man am i glad you came along

ek:
so heres what i guess im gonna do, i read up on this thread where i can color match the injector wires to the ex harness (which im gonna have to buy) and i can use the d series alternator, buy a T bracket off a em1, buy a obd2a to obd1 jumper harness, get a obd2 dizzy (or trade the obd1) and get a shift linkage from a em1 is that right? i cant use the 94-01 integras i heard

ej:

everything goes in, mounts and all, exchange the dizzy to a obd1, alternator from the b series (obd1), get a sohc ecu...is that correct? im guessing it already has a integra shift linkage and swap that out for a sohc one? can i use the ek one?

You can use the OBD1 injectors in the OBD2 clips by removing the blue piece inside the clip. This might help as well

the plugs for the iacv and map sensors on both harnesses look the same, do i still have to change the IM from the obd2 single cam to a obd1 one?...and what about the rest of all these plugs, will they all plug into all the sensors? coolent temp sensors etc?...vss looks like different plugs, are there any plugs that i will have to use off the obd1 harness? or vice versa?
