i have a 99 civic hatch cx. i recently dropped in a 98 sohc vtec. i tried using the 98 vtec harness which would not work so i am using my 99 cx harness. i am also using a 95 vtec ecu. (i have both ob2a and ob2b conversion kits also). the problem i am having is that i can fire up the car with the 95 vtec ecu, but it idles like ****. but if i try firing up with the 99 cx ecu it would not fire up. i would start, but than instantly die. but if i fire up the motor with the 95 vtec ecu than turn off and plug in the 99 ecu it works fine. i have no clue what is wrong.

i think your 98 sohc vtec (d16y8?) engine will run better with p2p ecu than a p28 unless it's chipped.
