Default need help with slave cylinder and clutch

i have a 92-95 civic hb vx with a d16z6 engine that i recently put on. i finally got the slave cylinder on, but when i tried to bleed it the clutch doesn't come back up once i press it down. i don't see any leak anywhere, but thinking it might be the slave cylinder itself. anyone have any clue what's wrong?

may sound dumb..but are you closing the valve after you let the air out? or when you say "doesn't come back up once i press it down" mean after you finish completing all the correct steps?

The way i did it..
Get another person,
- fill resevoir
- lift pedal, open bleeder, press pedal, close bleeder
- repeat until you see no more bubbles in fluid
- Dont let the resevoir go dry!!!

i thought the clutch pedal is suppose to come back up by itself once you step on it to let the air out. my clutch pedal is not going back up when i press it down.

it never comes back up by itself. Theres a spring in the brakes, thats why it comes back up. What you are doing is fine, keep doing it.

oh okay hopefully what you're saying is right. thought i might have to replace the slave cylinder. cause once i press it all the way down it feels like the clutch is worn out or something.

When bleeding the clutch system you have to pull the pedal back up since there is no hydraulic resisrtance/pressire from the pressure plate pushing it back up.

This job is best with a buddy.

Guy 1 in car, guy two bleeder screw operator.

guy2 is the guy in charge and says "to the floor"
guy1 pedal to the floor
guy2 now open bleeder and then close again and say "ok" or pedal up or something what ever works for ya,
now repeat that about 3-4 times and then check the fluid resevoir.
keep doing this until you stop hearing air spurts.

With the bleeder screw tight and NO AIR in the line, the pedal should pop back at you!

BTW once you get pedal pressure, (ie working clutch) put the car in 5th gear and from a stop rev it up and let the clutch out, it it revs up more, your clutch is NFG, if it stalls then the clutch wear is not at fault.

Good luck man.

lol, what is this guy doing!he's gotta pump and lift the pedal at least a few times to get any feel in the pedal, and bleed at least a 4 or more times to be sure there is no air in the lines.otherwise that pressure and fluid is escaping somewhere.

there is a leak somewhere. Mine leaked from where the line goes into the slave. Look everything over.

That is normal. After pumping the pedal a few times, holding it down while opening the bleeder screw, it will cause the piston to pump out the fluid. remember that the slave cylinder works on hydraulic pressure and not spring tension and will not come back because you just released the hydraulic pressure when you opened the bleeder screw. No worries!!! Just pull the pedal back up and pump a few more times and you will have pressure. Follow the procedures in you're Chilton's or Helms manual and you will be fine!!!

haha why dont ya do that brake trick? where you put a line to the nipple in some dot3 or dot 4 w/e you use for clutch fluid, and itll suck it back up and spit the air out, thats basically a speed bleeder lol

There is also a bolt that adjusts the clutch pedal, that might also need to be adjusted. I replaced my clutch slave cyl & bled the fluid and it still wasnt working correctly. Then i noticed the clutch pedal bolt was loose so I tightened that and it was 100% better. So you might want to look into that.
