need help with shockss..........

Default need help with shockss..........

im in process of doing my springs an lower control arms and my rear passanger side shock was a lil rusty and when i was taking off my stock spring the top bolt broke so i went to pepboys and got a new shock but this is what they gave me....



the new one is on the right and the old one is on the left.....is it the right shock??or do i need to compress the spring because all my other springs went right on i didnt need to compress them..any help would be great thanks

Let me guess, you didn't bring the old one with you...

The spring perch looks different. Is there a nut on the bottom for the bolt ? Hard to tell in the photo.


I would guess you have to compress the spring, if it will go that small.

something doesn't seem right about that shock, should have a longer shaft thing

its the same size nut.... is there a way to pull out the shaft? or will that ruin it?

compressing oem springs that low would be quite scary i'd say. bring that shock back and see if you can get one that's longer.. bring the old one with you

im putting in lowering springs... should the shaft on the shock move in and out?because it doesnt move on the new shock and on the old one it moves in and out......

hey bro,
they come shipped from the manufacturer locked in place. you have to unscrew the shaft so it will extend.
such a noobie. llol!!!!

I find it funny that there is alot of noobie wanting to DIY it but do not have the slightest clue and cry me a river on the forums asking for help.
do your research before attempting the tasks at hand.
