5500 rpm sounds about right for b18c..my b16a is set at 5900 rpm.. u can get a chipped ecu to reset the vtec engage point or get a VAFC..but honda set the vtec engage point at 5500 for a reason..to make it pop early doesnt mean u will gain hp or it will pull hard at that certain rpm. i have a chipped ecu and i leave the vtec point as factory default

just leave it alone....it is set from the factory at the proper crossover for fuel economy and a smooth powerband

you say it's set at 5500, is this with a honda ecu? if so, which ecu? unless you have a dyno tuning session and have made some bolt on changes, i'd leave the factory tune alone if possible.
you have the vafc and because of this it'll need you to input the low to high and high to low. that is unfortunate because you really should be using the stock ecu for now unless you are going to a reputable tuner, but someone should be able to atleast issue the numbers on the low to high, high to low that mocks the factory setup. ideally, that thing should be unhooked until you can get to a dyno.
just a note, sort of OT but interesting regarding vtec crossovers and blanket statements- a b18c1/jdm gsr uses a dual runner intake mani. normally, if you take this manifold off, and replace it with a single plane manifold, like a skunk2 unit, during tuning you will find that vtec needs to be put in the 5500-5700 range and tuned accordingly.
well, on my b18c1, i used a skunk2 single plane mani, but a unique apexi GT manifold. the combination of parts showed that i still needed a crossover in the 4400ish range, not the commonly thought 5500+ range, even tho the setup had little more than intake mani, header, and exhaust. the tuning was done by jeff evans and with an apexi powerfc-
notice the seamless crossover...

hmm, dang.
well, just incase, if the vafc was not previously tuned, i'd initialize it with the initialize function to make sure all is back to 'stock' within the vafc, and then hopefully someone on here can atleast give you the low to high, high to low for a stock c5 setup.
the best setup right now tho would be for the vafc to be disabled, but i know you can't do that easily since you would have to jump some wires and stuff, it's not a matter of simply 'unplugging it'

i hope so.. all i remember when i got the car the L->H was set to like 6000.. so i dunno where to set it back..

stock is fine. the only way to find the optimal vtec point is on a dyno.

Yep the best way to find the optimal VTEC crossover point is to dyno once with VTEC kicking in at say 2000 rpm, and the next pull set it way high, like say 10,000rpm. Then set the two graphs together and see where the best crossover point is, or where you'll get the most low end and where you'll get the most high end.
