try searching. i dont know if there's a "proper way" but the way i did it was by pulling on it. it's gonna feel like it's impossible but keep going. you'll need lots of strength.

i use a hammer too. i dont know bout pulling on it, the axle will fall apart. just use a hammer and knock it out
