need help replacing distributor
I have a d16z6 head on a d16y8 block. I was using the y8 distributor but it was not working out because it was rigged on there. I now have the right distributor z6 how to I install properly with out messing everything. And do i have to do the timing I dont have a timing gun?

Re: need help replacing distributor
You can make a little scratch on top of the distributor upper bolt hole in the middle and continue the scratch across the metal of the head that the dizzy bolts to. Make the same scratch in the same place on the new one and then line it up with the scratch on the head. The same can be done with a pencil or a piece of tape. This will make sure the distributor position is close to where it was. You should indeed set the timing afterward. If you have to, buy a timing gun and then return it when you are done. Make sure the wires are connected to the right terminals.
