Need help putting together a high gas mileage manual Civic with performance discarded
I need a commuter vehicle and it would seem like nobody wants their 70hp engines. That would be perfect for me although it seems hard to find. Is there a better way to go about finding and putting together a good gas mileage manual trans Civic with Performance Minded Enthusiasts' discarded parts?
Thanks, this forum seems to have tons of info, and I'm drowning in the knowledge base.

Re: Looking for D15B8 Civic
Do you mean that it is actually a sought after engine? By discarded parts, I mean when people swap out this 70hp engine for the vtec ones.

Re: Looking for D15B8 Civic
Hey grumble, what makes these motors so special? I am curious and honestly don't know. My wifes 94 cx hatch has a d15b8 with just about 100,000 miles, new timing belt, water pump, head gasket, belts, a/c, tune up, etc... and seems to run great. It burns a little oil but we take it everywhere. What is this motor worth? I am going to be doing a swap in the car and want to sell all the D series stuff. Thanks for any input....

Re: Looking for D15B8 Civic
None of the sedans ever came with this engine, am I right?
For that matter, was it only the CX Hatchback that did? Or did some of the base coupes and sedans come with it?

Re: Looking for D15B8 Civic
Only the CX hatch had the D15B8. There was also a DX hatch with the D15B7, VX hatch that had the D15Z1 and a Si with the D16Z6. For sedans you had the DX and LX with the D15B7, and the EX with the D16Z6. For the coupe there was the DX with the D15B7 and EX with the D16Z6.
I think I have that right....

Re: Looking for D15B8 Civic
Thanks for clearing that up. Initially I was interested in the VX, but those are hard to come by in Minnesota, now I find that CX's are also hard to find. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes open around here unless I'm over looking some other engine/chassis combo that might work for me.

Re: Need help putting together a high gas mileage manual Civic with performance disca
I almost forgot about car-part. Did a search and actually found more D15Z1's than D15B8's. Although they are all fetching ~$400.
