need help with power windows - 96 Civic 4dr
Hi,
I'm unable to get my rear passenger side door window to go up. It went down fine and will not go back up. It's stuck in the fully open position.
I tried a different switch, but it still doesn't work. I can hear an electrical sound when I press "down" on the switch, but when I press "up", there is no sound.
I took out the window motor / regulator assembly. I really don't know what to look for here. It seems as if the regulator part with the gear teeth does not move at all. Could it be seized? Would a new window regulator fix this problem?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. It's pouring tonight and tomorrow, so I hope to fix this as soon as possible.
Thanks H-T.
-Brian.

Well you try and move the regulator all you want, my advice, don't try it, looks like it's going to hurt. You said you replaced a switch, which one??..
Since you already have the darn thing out, just apply power to one end and ground the other. If it goes down, it should go up. That's where I always start.
From there you can move to accusing the switch or motor. But most likely, I would say driver's master window switch, just a guess.
Good Luck

Re: need help with power windows - 96 Civic 4dr (PnX-R)
The driver's master window switch would cause the rear passenger side window not to work?
I swapped the passenger rear window switch with the drivers rear window switch. Still didn't work.
My drivers master window switch didnt roll down the two rear windows for a while now. Would it be a problem with the switch? Is there any way I can diagnose this myself?
Thanks,
-Brian.

sounds like a master switch problem.
check pass switch, if it's working then the problem is the regulator
if the master switch is bad it will work sometimes
most likely it's the master..
