i just swapped a Y8 block and head into my EG, and i used to 98 intake manifold gasket. now the car idles between 1100 & 1500 rpms and when it gets warmed up it starts to surge. what would be causing this problem?? thanks in advance

Check again for leaks. Are you also using the y8 intake manifold? Or you using the IM from your last motor?

im using my original manifold. i'll check for leaks too, thanks.

Since you said you're using the original manifold, I'm assuming its the z1 or b7 IM. I'm not sure, but I think you'd have to use the original gasket instead of the y8. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

check for vaccum leaks. its pretty easy to forget to hook up one vaccum line.
