need help with obd2 engine into obd1 car
hey guys i have searched for days this is the only reason im asking because i have come up empty.
i have a 95 civic ex coupe and have installed a 99 civic ex coupe d16y8. my question lies in the oxygen sensors. the obd2 engine has two, one before the cat and one in the cat. i am using an obd1 non vtec harness that was vtec converted by me.(i added the ground and pinned out the two wires to the shock tower connecters) which o2 do i wire up the first or second sensor and if so how which positions go to which? the harness im using has a female plug on the front of the vehicle side(closest to bumper) and both sensors are aft of the engine. i also have two extra connectors on the rear of the engine bay both two wire, one wht/blk and red the other grn/wht and red/ylw) what do these go to? i have failed to find accurate wiring diagrams. please help.
and if you dont want to help please dont bother responding go play a video game or do your chores. i am an adult asking big boys for help and legitimately need help with this car. thank you all for your time.

You can find an accurate wiring diagram by downloading a FSM. You really should. TOS doesn't allow them to be posted, but...Google will find them for you with a quickness.
As for the O2 sensor, you would install it before the cat.

Re: need help with obd2 engine into obd1 car
only o2 info i have found was informal as im not sure without a diagram if it is correct
blue connects to wht/red=sensor signal
white connects to red/ylw=sensor ground
black connects to blk/ylw=sensor power source
black connects to blk/wht=heater
is this correct? if so then all i should need to do is extend wiring

...really? Put "1998 civic FSM download" into Google. Second result. Literally that easy.
You shouldn't need to worry about wiring colors. There's only one pigtail on your harness for the O2 sensor. Just plug it in, or, if you still have the original one, just screw it into your exhaust manifold. Done. Plug the second hole.

Re: need help with obd2 engine into obd1 car
So...use the original one that was there. It also sounds like there's something you aren't telling us. The Bosch part number is identical for all 92-00 EX Civics. The primary sensor for a 98 should plug right into the harness on a 95.
