NEED HELP NO SPARK! 1996 Civic DX NO SPARK!
This is for a friend of mine.. Her car is a 1996 Honda Civic Hatchback DX with about 123k miles on it..
She parked it at a friends house got up in the morning and it would not start. I went over there to check it out and she is getting no spark. The only thing I did was disconnect the alarm ( Incase that was failing ) Well she still does not have spark..
What should be the first thing to figure out or change on this thing? I took the cap off and the rotor was spinning..
All help would be great Thanks

So you hold the spark plug against something metal and nothing correct???
Then u need a distributor.
Any other modifications you did recently inside the engine bay?

Absolutely NOT.
Try the coil first, then the ignitor if the coil doesn't fix it.
You will rarely need the entire distributor.
The distributor sold from Honda doesn't even come with a coil nor ignitor anyways - you'll be pissed when you spend over $300.00 and the car still won't crank.
The coil only costs at most $90.00 full list price.

Thanks.. I was hoping not to get an entire dist. Listen where is the coil on these things? Inside the cap?

The coil is inside the distributor.
Remove the distributor from he engine (it's easier this way) and be sure to mark the timing first by making a line across the ears of the dist. and the engine.
Pull off the cap, and the coil is held in by a few screws. It'll be a goldish looking piece with a spring on it. These usually fail before the ignitor or the entire distributor.

IF you need a distributor, distributor king comes for about 240$ with ignitor, cap, rotor, etc... its complete.

When you turn the key to the on position, does the CEL come on for 2 seconds and then go off? Do you have a test light or multi-meter?

Re: (Chiovnidca)
The only other spark-related things are the ignitor and the distributor itself.
Also the ignition switch being bad will give you those same symptoms too.
Listen for the "click" sound as your check engine light goes off after you put the key into the "on" position - if you hear the click, you're getting fuel and the main relay is working.

OK after checking what you guys said:
I hear no clicking what so ever when ignition is set to on.
Also The engine light NEVER turns off, it just stays on.

Re: (fastfed)
could be alot of things, figure out what code its throwing. You could have fried the ECU. Also check the main relay that is under/next too the hood release....Make sure all of your grounds are contected and free of corosion.

Does it have a trouble code stored?

Re: (fastfed)
Check the ACGS (or very close to that) fuse under the dash in the under dash fuse box.
My old Civic blew that fuse and did the exact same thing - CEL never went off, and I had no fuel pressure.
