Need help!!! My syncros and/or trani on my '00 DX are out. What can I do?
Well, I've treated my EG like crap. Actually, I thought Honda's were indistructable (I also have an 3rd gen Rx-7 which is very destructible) so have been driving my civic hard since i bought it 3 years ago. I guess I'm not supprised then about the following:
I can't even get my car into 2nd gear, and therefore I skip it and go to 3rd which grinds. I'm not a mechanic, but I know enough to know that my syncro's are going bad in 3rd and 2nd gear. Actually 2nd gear is shot to Hell! I'm not drivin' the civic right now, 'cause i don't have to, but it is a pain in the butt to drive around like that, and I feel like i'm hurting it even more.
So, now to my question. What can I do? Do I have to replace the trani with the same one or can I swap it out with an SI trani or better? I don't know alot about transmissions, which is why I'm asking.
I already did a search about this, but was unable to find the info relating to my case. Any advice would be much appreciated.

you will have to swap it out w/ another d series hydrolic transmission.
check the shift linkage first make sure all the bolts and nuts are tight, if anything is loose it can be causing this
