Default Need help with my eg foglights!

So, I just bought some brand new fog lights for my ej1. I spent a butt load of time cutting the bumper and installing the damn things and I wired it all up, and I was going to make a nice DIY write up for the site too. I go to turn it on and nothing happens. I thought maybe it was the crappy switch that comes with it, so I went to autozone and bought a toggle switch and wired that one up. I flipped the switch and the little LED light on the switch turns on, but the fogs don't light up so I know it's getting power. So, I left my car at my sisters for a couple of days and went back and the car battery was dead. It had sucked power from my battery even with the car turned off. Anyone know why this might be? I have been going mental trying to figure out why the damn things don't work. Any help is appreciated!

When you wire it straight to the battery do they turn on?

Try this, wire the fogs directly to the battery. If they turn on, it's your ground. Get a better ground for them. Then try again. What grounding point are you using, anyway?

Are they ebay fogs? And how did you wire them up? give some more feedback here!

Ok, so they are ebay fogs and I know they aren't the best but they should still work. I hooked the red positive wire (with the loop end) up directly to the battery. then there's a wire (blue) midway down the wiring harness (with another loop) that I am assuming is a ground wire so I just screwed that to the chassis and then i put the little power wire (male) through the firewall into the driver's side area to connect to the female end. From there there is another ground wire, a yellow wire, 2 and 2 light colored wires. I connected the little yellow wire to the fuse box in one of the 5 open slots and there is another ground wire for the button so I grounded that and then connected the light colored power wires to the switch. I plugged in the fog light connections to their proper plug, flipped the switch and nothing.

I really need to figure this out guys. If anyone at least knows someone on the site that is good at wiring that could help me figure this out, that would help.

I've got ebay fogs and all my grounds are black. I'm thinking maybe that blue wire might be a power wire or something? If I recall correctly, in the harness that came with my fogs, the wires were three different colors; red, yellow, and black. Do you have a multimeter to check and see which wires have power and which ones don't?

No, I don't. I will have to check that. On yours....did you have a ground wire right after the 2nd fog plug before the power wire that goes into the cabin?

There's a ground wire right after each fog and a single wire going in the cabin for the switch on the drivers side

Do you have a test light or something that runs off 12v? You could check and see if that blue wire has power or not.

One ground after the 2nd fog, that is. so it goes...
1.battery connection
2. Relay
3. Fuse
4. pass side fog plug
5. driv. side fog plug
6. ground wire
7. power wire with male plug -> female plug, then...
8. (in cabin) fog switch connector with ground coming off of it and a yellow wire (which plugs into fuse box)

Which spot in the fuse box do you have it plugged into?

Well there's like 5 open spots above the fuses and i just plugged it into one of those. I tried all of them though. Is there a specific spot it is supposed to plug into?

Some of them are hot all the time, some are only hot when the key is turned to the acc position and some are hot only when the car is running. I'm trying to find the diagram that says specifically which is hot at what times, I'll post it up if I find it, but to answer your question, yes.
Mine is plugged into the second from the right spot.

alright, I found the diagram. Like I said in my previous post, mine are hooked up to the second from the right, or the 'D' option connector.

From left to right on the fuse box the option connectors and labeled A,B,C,D,E
A-Hot at all times
B-Hot at all times
C-Hot in RUN
D-Hot with light switch in HEAD or PARK
E-Hot in ACC or RUN

The option connectors also have fuse protection check and make sure these fuses are still good,

A- Fuse 36 - (Not sure)
B- Fuse 17 - 10A
C- Fuse 16 - 7.5A
D- Fuse 19 - 10A
E- Fuse 23 - 15A

Just so you have an actual visual reference...
